East Delhi Plus brings to you an update on school events in the city


Competitions held
The students Mayur Public School, I.P. Extension, participated in various cultural as well as literary competitions, organised by education department of Delhi and brought laurels to the school. Sanjoli Singh stood first in the English extempore (Junior) at district level. She enthralled the audience by expressing her views on "Role of discipline in student’s life". Deepak Aggarwal bagged the first prize in Hindi extempore (junior) at district level, when he shared his views on "Dangerous of being superstitions". School principal Shankuntla Rawat congratulated the teachers and the students for their earnest endeavours in making the school, carve a niche at district level too.

Virasat 2008
Universal Public School, Preet Vihar, under the aegis of Spic Macay hosted Virasat 2008, dedicated to Pt. Kishan Maharaj and Guru Ammannur Madhva Chakya. Lecture cum demonstration of Manipuri dance was performed by Guru Singhajit Singh and his wife Charu Sija Mathur. Accompanying them were Beena Devi, Dancer; vocalist Sanadombi Devi; flute Jagan Nath Ghoshal; drum Sanayaima Singh; Naoba Singh and Keirungbha Singh. Many eminent personalities Dr J.C. Goyal, R.K. Das, R.G. Gupta, K.P. Gupta, K.A. Goyal, Madan Virakt, Sarita Gupta, R.P. Gupta, R.K. Aggarwal, Harish Sharma and Prema Sinha graced the occasion. The program commenced with the lighting of lamp by the main artists and other dignitaries followed by a spell bounding ’vasant ras’ depicting Lord Krishna’s Raas Lila. The Mridangam Nritya was a perfect synchronization of foot work with the drum beat performed by the drummers. To evoke God, a beautiful priestess dance was performed by Beena Devi. Dhol Cholam was performed by the drummers reflecting the spirit of Holi. An excerpt from Mahabharata was enacted in the form of dance by the main artists. The performance enthralled the audience and took them to a spiritual consciousness. Director principal Maya Gupta thanked the artist for the vibrant and spell bounding performance.

Adventure camp
The students of Starex International School, Vasundhara Enclave, accompanied by six teachers, attended a three-day adventure camp at Saat Tal organized by Wildrift Adventures. The students participated in plethora of adventure activities like rappelling, jumaaring, kayaking, river crossing, swimming, waterfall splash, trekking, etc.
