East Delhi Plus brings to you an update on school events in the city
Annual day celebrated
Bharti Public School, Swasthya Vihar, celebrated its annual day on January 1 at Kamani Auditorium. The function commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, Dr. A.K. Walia, minister for finance, urban development and planning, and the special invitees Arun Gemini, a renowned poet, and Manoj Verma, RJ and mimicry artist, along with the director of the school, Dr. S.L. Batra. The meritorious students in academics were given cash prizes amounting to Rs. 81,500 by the management. Awards were given to students who excelled in sports and co-curricular activities. The highlight of the day was the play Hadd Kar De Aapne. The school annual report was presented by principal S. Arora.
Annual eco meet
Bal Bhawan Public School, Mayur Vihar -II, participated in ‘annual eco meet’, organised by the department of environment, government of NCT, Delhi. The exhibition was held at Pragati Maidan in Hall No 3. Various institutes, schools, colleges, NGOs and companies set up their stalls. Students made eco-friendly products. The exhibition was graced by Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit accompanied with J.K. Dadoo (IAS, secretary, environmen-cum-chairman, Delhi Pollution Control Committee. School principal B.B. Gupta proposed the note of appreciation.
Annual winter fest
Vivekanand Public School, B Block, Anand Vihar, organised its winter carnival ’Vibrations-2008’ on December 14 in the school premises. Chief guest R.N. Sharma (DDE East) inaugurated the fete. The main attraction was the dance performed by the students who also stood first in Delhi in the audition of the programme My school rocks for the Disney Channel. A baby show and various game stalls were the other highlights. A tribute was paid to Mumbai bomb blast victims by the chief guest, management, parents and students. At the lucky draw, prize winning tickets were taken out by the guest of honour Rakesh Dhaiya (SHO, Anand Vihar) accompanied by the management and the principal. The winners of the teacher’s lucky dips were Manju Dutta, Suman and Pinky.
Chillz-2008
Vivekanand School, D-Block, Anand Vihar, organized a fete ’Chillz-2008’. R.N. Sharma, DDE (East zone), graced the occasion as the chief guest. The inaugural lamp was lit by chief guest Yog Dhyan Ahuja, chairman, Pradyumn Ahuja, manager, Kiran Khanna, principal, all incharges and staff members were present on the occasion. Diksha and Bhoomika Sahni from Class VI, gave a splendid dance performance. Games such as lucky dip, tricky games, wheel of fortune attracted the audience. Fabulous prizes were won at the lucky draw.
Minithon organised
At the Gurgaon Minithon organised by Ryan International Sports Club, Sachin Kumar (X G) of Ryan International School, Mayur Vihar, won the fourth place in the senior category. The young runners of the school were adjudged as best performers. In the last decade, the club has organised 44 road races all over India. The school sent a 600 strong team to these minithons and a number of them won appreciable distinctions and places.
Students meet Dr. Walia
Vidya Bal Bhawan Sr. Sec. School, Mayur Vihar - III, students (Ruchi Tiwari, Nupur, Rivika, Swati, Deepa, Indu, Shrishti, Shivangi, Swati, Aswathi, Chaitanya, Aakansha of class XI) congratulated Dr Ashok Kumar Walia at his residence on being decided finance and urban development minister of Delhi Govt. Dr. Walia interacted with the children and encouraged them to pursue with their aims keeping high moral along with their duties. School principal Dr. Satvir Sharma thanked him for his valuable time to the children.
No tobacco week
SLSDAV Public School, Mausam Vihar, organized a rally on "No Tobacco Week" on December 4. It was a project under Health Club & Eco Club of the school. 110 students of classes IX participated in the rally along with 20 students who played the band from Class VII and VIII. The aim was to create awareness in the adjoining localities of the school against the harmful effects of tobacco. Students took out the procession carrying hoardings and placards with purposeful slogans.
